Nutcracker & Company Auditions
& Spring Gala Performance
Texas Metropolitan Ballet academy provides performing opportunities with the goal to promote the dancer's professional training not just through class but by performing experience. It is TMB's belief that regular performances are integral to the training process and can push a dancer towards their goal of professionalism as no amount of classroom training can. TMB offers opportunities for its students, their families and the community to involve themselves in the arts through the rehearsal process, the backstage experience and onto the stage.

From their own experience, Mr. & Mrs. Marks know that learning the art of giving to the audience is a very essential and invaluable part of training. The joy and passion for performing was passed on to them by master teachers and critical audiences and they are driven to share this treasure with students who truly possess the passion to learn and challenge themselves in the demanding art of classical ballet. Proven to show a distinctive quality throughout vastly different styles, the Marks work one on one with each individual dancer in the production, crafting a uniform look over different styled dancers desiring to work with the dancer in mind rather than the dance alone.

With choreography ranging from classical to contemporary and even jazz. Mr. Marks brings to the stage naturally passionate and original compositions, which have been staged throughout the US including theaters in Texas, for Richmond Ballet dancers and even brought an invitation to assist Sigourney Weaver and Toby Jones with choreography for the film “Infamous”.

Spring Gala Production
Students of TMB also have the opportunity to perform in our Spring Gala production.
No audition is held or required. Students are evaluated by the directors throughout the Fall semester and (if they participate) Nutcracker rehearsals and performances.

Our Spring Gala features a story ballet on the first half of the program and a short dance of a different style on the second half of the program.
Past ballets performed include:
-
Coppelia
-
Swan Lake
-
Sleeping Beauty
-
Don Quixote
-
Afternoon Stroll
-
A Little Character
-
Poetic Chants

Though these ballets are normally 2 or more hours long, TMB reworks the staging to condense the ballet down to 1 hour while maintaining the fundamental story. These story ballets provide us with the opportunity to incorporate the various levels of students from our Academy including our Primary division dancers.
The second half of the program provides us with the opportunity to present a variety of dance styles with traditional and original choreography. The main focus is given to our Company dancers while also including our Junior division dancers in a variety of ways and styles.
Open to TMB students enrolled in the Junior & Senior Divisions
